I had a few requirements for the move to Arizona: 1) We couldn't live in a city. It would have to be rural. 2) If we moved to the desert, it would have to be the high desert, with a target elevation of 5000 feet. 3) We wanted a minimum of three acres. The more land we could acquire, the better.
Otherwise, we didn't place any restrictions on ourselves about the location of the move. Ultimately, we moved to the house we liked within the parameters we established. We ended up with 5 acres in Pearce, a rural area in the southeastern portion of the state. It's a beautiful, rugged, remote area.
Since we no longer lived in a residential neighborhood, I had no fears of conducting a crossing right there on my own land. I chose a spot underneath some oak trees on the back of our property, and conducted my first crossing at our new home.
